Effective Tips and Tricks in Playing Guitar Hero 3
Playing Guitar Hero 3 is a game of passion for music and as well the
fulfillment of becoming your own kind of a guitar god. You get to play
songs, enhance your playing skills, and battle against existing guitar
gods. But you also have a bigger goal rather than playing the music.
Guitar Hero is a game, and you have to win the game in order to get
everything that you want.
Does it seem like practicing your moves in Guitar Hero 3 isn't enough?
Yes, practice is not everything in this game, hence you will be in need
of a basket full of tips and tricks to help you through. Hence, here are
a list of effective ways you can use when you want to succeed in playing
Guitar Hero 3:
Do not be scared to repeat a song. Restarting a song is
absolutely OK when starting out in Guitar Hero 3. Everybody starts from
scratch so why get scared? Restarting a song also helps you master the
piece by heart, hence you already know when to strum and which notes to
hit even when not looking at the game play screen.
Do not be afraid to miss notes. Sometimes, when you start missing
notes, you begin to panic and end up losing the whole game. Relax. When
you get yourself into this kind of situation, try to look three notes
ahead and prepare yourself from there.
It is also important that you know when and when not to whammy.
Not using the whammy bar properly would end up with you losing your
bonuses, so be aware of that. You should also learn to practice lifting
your guitar vertically so you can gauge your skill levels. There are
times when you have to flip your guitar on a vertical manner but if you
don't know when to seize the right moment, then you may lose bonuses or
going into Star Power.

Tips When in Battle Mode:
- When in Battle Mode, practice using two or more weapons at a
time. The best combination in Guitar Hero 3 is Double and the
Difficulty Up.
- When this option does not work, try to release the second weapon
right after the first attack ends. Your opponent will not be able to
recover easily with that.
- Another effective strategy is to attack your opponent while he
is trying to score on battle gems. This will hinder him or her from
getting a weapon, and eventually have nothing to use against you.
The Whammy Bar is the most effective attack for this strategy.
- Also, the Whammy Bar becomes effective when your opponent is
performing difficult solo numbers with a high amount of notes and
chords, such as Living Colour's “Cult of Personality”. This will
make your opponent miss several notes, and eventually lose the game.
- If you are playing an easy song on the multi-player career mode,
you may choose to save all your weapons until sudden death. Use your
weapons when the battle gems start to appear on your opponent's
screen, so that he or she would not get the Death Drain attack.
- One in the Sudden Death mode, tilt up the guitar throughout the
duration of the song so that the Death Drain weapon will be
activated.
- Utilize your attacks by using one of them right after getting
the next battle gem. You can only store up to three attacks on your
shelf, and getting a fourth would replace one of the weapons you
currently have.
- Remember that your opponent will only miss notes when you use
your weapons, so never ever miss a battle gem.
