A Quick Tour of Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock
To all the fans of the hit music video game Guitar Hero, then you
should be enjoying the third installment of the Guitar Hero series,
Guitar Hero 3: Legends of Rock. If you felt the adrenaline rush in being
the star of your own rock band, then get ready to face new challenges
this time. Yes, Guitar Hero 3 provides the same game play as the
previous versions, but with added features both new and old players
immediately got hooked up with.
Guitar Hero 3 has brought the game to a higher level by incorporating a
new career mode, as well as “Boss Battles” where you can compete both
against in-game characters and other present players. You can choose
from over 70 songs available on disk, which are master tracks. If you
are using Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3, then you can also download more
songs. Master musicians such as Slash of Guns N’ Roses and Velvet
Revolver, and Tom Morello of Rage Against the Machine and Audioslave
have also joined the cast of in-game characters.
While the game has grown to be more exciting and a lot more surprises
have been put in store, you still get to use the basic rules in playing
Guitar Hero 3. You must hit the notes as they approach the bottom of the
screen in order to score points and improve your game performance. You
will be hitting on the strum bar while holding the right fret buttons in
order to score points.
Among the more challenging parts of the game are the pull-offs and
hammer-ons during a rapid succession of notes. When you miss a note,
your skills meter will drop as well. You then have to work more on
hitting the right notes on time or else you will fail your piece.
Meanwhile, when you score 10 consecutive correct notes, you get a
multiplier that can increase your score up to four times during the
game.
Guitar Hero 3, just like its predecessors, has four levels of
difficulty, namely Easy, Medium, Hard, and Expert. If you have been
playing the previous versions of Guitar Hero then you would not be
having any problems with Guitar Hero 3, since the difficulty levels are
just the same.
As mentioned earlier, Guitar Hero 3: Legends of Rock, features real life
guitar masters playing as boss characters, namely Slash and Tom Morello.
If you meanwhile are playing Guitar Hero 3 via PC, Xbox 360 or
PlayStation 3, then you can play with another guitar god, Bret Michaels.
Aside from them, you can still play with or against the characters from
the previous Guitar God series, such as Johnny Napalm, Xavier Stone,
Axel Steel, Judy Nails, Casey Lynch and Izzy Sparks.
What else is great about Guitar Hero 3: Legends of Rock? It’s that you
get to feel like a real guitar hero while in the game. How? Guitar Hero
3 now comes with wireless controllers shaped like a Kramer Striker (for
PlayStation 2) and Gibson Les Paul (for Wii, Xbox 360 and PlayStation
3), as well as removable faceplates-allowing you to personalize your
guitar. You are now free to unleash your spirits and be one with your
music; hence you become the guitar hero you’ve always dreamed of. Aside
from the wireless controllers, you also get to enjoy the game’s online
multiplayer and downloadable music files.
Guitar Hero 3: Legends of Rock has received both praises and criticisms
from time of its release in May 2007. But still, this third installment
of the Guitar Hero series became the best video game for that year. |
